I’m Kuryente—a multidisciplinary artist, DJ, media producer, and educator working at the intersection of sound, image, and emerging technology. Kuryente, meaning electricity in Tagalog, is a name I chose to reclaim my roots. As a Filipino-born, Brooklyn-raised creative, it reflects both my cultural identity and the raw, unfiltered energy that drives everything I do.

My creative journey began in Brooklyn during a time when underground Hip Hop, Techno, rave, skate culture, and street art pulsed through the streets. These movements didn’t just inspire me—they shaped my DNA. DJing was my first medium, starting with Hip Hop and evolving into Drum & Bass and Techno. At the same time, cinema became a parallel force—a second language through which I built my visual voice. Together, these influences formed a practice grounded in experimentation, subversion, and relentless originality.

I founded Noisemaker Media to fuse art, culture, and technology into boundary-pushing narratives. My work spans immersive DJ sets, experimental films, sound design, and media storytelling—always with a focus on innovation and intention. Whether I’m behind the decks, behind the lens, or in a sound studio, I approach each project with the same ethos: disrupt the formula, elevate the form, and make it mean something.

As an educator, I spent over a decade teaching in higher education—leading courses in cinematography, video editing, sound design, visual effects, and media theory. But my mission went beyond technique. I’ve worked to challenge stagnant academic frameworks and push for more dynamic, interdisciplinary models of learning—ones that reflect the complexity of today’s creative industries and empower the next generation to think critically, take risks, and own their voice.

At my core, I’m committed to building a new creative language—one that merges sound, cinema, and digital media to inspire, challenge, and rewire how we experience stories. Whether through immersive audio, visual experimentation, or interactive media, I create work that resists imitation, centers purpose, and expands the possibilities of what storytelling can be.
